The I-CAT™  Cone Beam 3-D Dental Imaging System provides high-definition, in-office, three-dimensional, digital imaging at reduced cost and less radiation to the patient than traditional CT scans.  It delivers quicker and easier image acquisition.  It allows evaluation and analysis of critical anatomy for implants and oral surgery within minutes.  It provides more anatomical information of bone structure and tooth orientation for optimum implant type selection, treatment, and placement.    It detects and evaluates problems before they become serious by accurately measuring bone and jaw deformities, assessing bone lesions and changes of the jaw, and detecting other pathologies such as cysts, tumors, and disease.

It improves orthodontic diagnosis and treatment by providing the multiple projection perspective necessary to accurately assess tooth relationship and further support the objective interpretation of anatomy.

It provides exact tooth position and relationship of abnormal anatomy with more accurate viewing of impacted supernumerary or abnormal teeth in relationship to other anatomical structures, such as roots, nasal fossa, and sinuses to enhance accurate management of treatment by understanding the tooth’s position and its relationship to adjacent teeth and structures.

Applications:

Most commonly used in the assessment of bony and dental pathologic conditions including fracture, structural maxillofacial deformity and fracture recognition, preoperative assessment of impacted teeth, TMJ imaging and in the analysis of available bone for implant placement.  It may be used for cephalometric studies in orthodontics.
